Jordan foils attempt to smuggle 800,000 captagon pills from Syria
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Jordan’s customs said on Monday its officers thwarted an attempt to smuggle 800,000 captagon pills from Syria.
The Jordan Customs Department announced on Monday that their officers, along with security services, successfully stopped an attempt to smuggle 800,000 captagon pills from Syria at the Jaber border crossing between Syria and Jordan.
Since the start of the Syrian conflict in 2011, Jordan has experienced numerous attempts at infiltration and smuggling of drugs, mainly originating from Syria and Iraq as a result of security challenges in both countries.
Moreover, the smugglers had hid the captagon pills in merchandise but they were discovered and seized by the customs officers, according to the statement.
The contraband was then handed over to the Anti-Narcotics Department (AND).
On May 18, a senior military source at the General Command of the Jordan Armed Forces said that their forces thwarted an attempt to smuggle large quantities of narcotics from Syria and killed two drug smugglers.
