Landmine blast in Idlib kills, injures 4 children

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – A landmine was exploded on Thursday in Idlib Governorate, northwestern Syria, killing and injuring four children.

Local media outlets stated that a landmine of war remnants was exploded in the village of al-Mintar in the countryside of the city of Jisr al-Shughur, west of Idlib.

The explosion resulted in the killing of a child and the injury of three others.

Remnants of war in Syria are considered one of the most dangerous legacies of the decade-long conflict. Parties to the conflict planted IEDs and mines in areas under their control as well as in areas controlled by their enemies to protect themselves against attacks.
