Lawyer dies in government prison in Syria’s Hasakah
HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – A lawyer died on Tuesday in a prison of the Syrian government forces in the government-held neighborhood in the city of Hasakah in Northeast Syria.
An exclusive source close to the government’s Criminal Security Branch, said lawyer Thamer Habib al-Talla’a was in custody at the branch for two weeks before he died.
He told North Press that while the lawyer was in custody, his health condition deteriorated and that the prison administration rejected to transfer him to Damascus.
The reason of the arrest of the lawyer, who hails from al-Baggara tribe, was unknown, according to the source.
The source indicated that there was rage among members of the tribe towards the Police Chief and the head of the Criminal Security Branch due to the refusal to transfer the lawyer to a hospital in Damascus for treatment.
