Turkish shelling on Syria’s Manbij injures civilian

MANBIJ, Syria (North Press) – Turkish forces shelled on Thursday evening the countryside of Manbij in northern Syria and injured a civilian.

Manbij Military Council, a military formation of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), announced that the Turkish forces shelled the village of Sayada, in the western countryside of the city of Manbij.

It added that the shelling led to the injury of the 20-year-old civilian Ahmad al-Ali, and caused material damage to the civilians’ property.

Early on Thursday, the Turkish forces targeted the villages of Derj and Shamdan, north of Manbij, with 22 shells, according to the Council.

Turkey repeatedly target cities and towns in north and northeast Syria with drones, artillery shells and heavy weapons, causing casualties and material damage, especially in population property.

The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) supported by the U.S.-led Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS liberated Manbij from ISIS in 2016 following fierce battles.
