Brussels conference to discuss reintegrating returnees into NE Syria

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – The eighth Brussels Conference on “Supporting the future of Syria and the region” will discuss the issue of reintegrating returnees into Northeast Syria, the European Union (EU) announced on Wednesday.

“From pre-departure preparations within the camp to successful reintegration into public society, the discussion will outline the multifaceted roles CSOs play in facilitating the entire returnee journey,” the EU announced

The eighth Brussels Conference on “Supporting the future of Syria and the region” is scheduled to be held in Brussels on April 30 with the attendance of 800 people.

“A comprehensive political solution brokered through the UN, and enjoying the full support of all its members, remains the ultimate imperative,” said Josep Borrell, EU High Representative.

He added the EU is working for the Syrian people to “get a chance to live in dignity and peace.”

Early in March, civil society organizations, associations, and institutions in Northeast Syria held a conference to convey the voices of local communities in the eighth Brussels Conference.

The EU indicated that this year’s edition of the Conference would “redouble efforts to listen to Syrian voices, in Syria, in the region and from the diaspora.”

Since 2017, the EU has been organizing an annual conference in Brussels to support the future of Syria. The conference aims to mobilize the international community in support of a comprehensive and credible political solution in Syria.
