Iran’s FM blames U.S. for Israeli attack on consulate in Syria
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian accused on Monday the U.S. of giving Israel the “green light” for the strike on the Iranian consulate in Damascus.
Amirabdollahian justified his claims, saying that the U.S. failure to condemn the attack “indicates that Washington had given the green light to Israel to commit this crime.”
On April 1, Israeli airstrikes targeted the Iranian consulate in Damascus, which is adjacent to the main embassy building, killing two generals, including Zahedi, commander the Quds Force in Syria and Lebanon, affiliated with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), and five IRGC officers.
The Iranian minister blamed the U.S. for the Israeli attack on the Iranian consulate, saying, “America has a responsibility in what happened and must be held responsible,” he told reporters during his visit to Damascus.
Additionally, he reiterated that his country will respond to the attack.
