Syrian Defense Ministry announces targeting ISIS, HTS posts in Syrian Desert, Idlib
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Ministry of Defense announced on Sunday targeting positions of the Islamic State (ISIS) in the Syrian Desert and posts of the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS, formerly al-Nusra Front) in Idlib Governorate, northwestern Syria.
The state-run SANA News Agency reported, citing the Syrian Ministry of Defense, that the Syrian government forces, in cooperation with Russian forces, targeted positions of “terrorist organizations” in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor, Palmyra, and Idlib.
SANA pointed out the government forces and the Russian forces carried out in the past days “a series of precise qualitative operations by military aircraft, drones, artillery fire, and missiles.”
SANA also said “the dens and sites were completely destroyed, and dozens of terrorists were killed and wounded, including leaders of those organizations, in addition to terrorists of foreign nationalities.”
