AANES grants amnesty for offenses

Raqqa, Syria (North Press) – The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) granted on Saturday an amnesty for offenses committed before the pardon’s date.

Yasser al-Suleiman, an official in Democratic Peoples Council, affiliated with the AANES, said that granting the amnesty came on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr and a response on the people demands.

The amnesty excludes terrorist crimes, drug trading, raping, child sexual abuse, as well as those who are hiding, according to Suleiman.

The official said that life sentences are replaced with fifteen years in prison and other penalties in prison were reduced to the half, the official added.

The pardon included those who have incurable diseases, as they will be released after being inspected by a committee in the Social Justice Council in North and East Syria.
