18 ISIS militants killed, 63 detained in Syria, Iraq – CENTCOM

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) –  The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Saturday conducting 94 Defeat ISIS Missions in Syria and Iraq, which resulted in the killing of 18 Islamic State (ISIS) operatives and the detention of 63 others from January through March.

CENTCOM stated on X platform (previously Twitter) its forces, along with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), carried out 28 joint operations in Syria, resulting in the killing of seven ISIS operatives and the detention of 27 others.

Additionally, CENTCOM forces conducted 66 partnered operations in Iraq with the Iraqi Security Forces, which resulted in the killing of 11 ISIS operatives and the detention of 36 others.

The statement added that pursuing about 2,500 ISIS militants at large across Syria and Iraq is a crucial to the enduring defeat of ISIS.

“Equally vital are the ongoing international efforts to repatriate more than 9,000 ISIS detainees in detention facilities in Syria, and the repatriation, rehabilitation, and reintegration of more than 45,000 individuals and families from the Al Hol and Al Roj camps,” the statement read.

Meanwhile, Gen. Michael Erik Kurilla, CENTCOM commander, said, “We are committed to the enduring defeat of ISIS because of the threat they pose both regionally and globally. We continue to focus our efforts on specifically targeting those members of ISIS who are seeking to conduct external operations outside of Iraq and Syria and those ISIS members attempting to break out ISIS members in detention in an attempt to reconstitute their forces.”

Kurilla pointed out that eliminating the threat of ISIS requires constant pressure from their partners and the U.S.-led Global Coalition.
