Government investigates doctors for using expired medicines in Aleppo
ALEPPO, Syria (North Press) – A source in the Criminal Security Branch of the Syrian government in Aleppo Governorate, northwestern Syria, said that workers in health sector reported doctors involved in using outdated medicines and medical equipment.
The source added to North Press the Criminal Security Branch is investigating through the syndicate with seven doctors and their assistants.
He said that investigation report number 988 included the use of an expired catheter or its reuse after sterilization for more than one time.
The preliminary investigation proved the involvement of the doctors with 14 assistants, working in several hospitals, including public and private ones. They confessed to using medical materials that were either expired or unfit for use.
The source pointed out that a number of workers in the healthcare sector form a network involved in forging some pharmaceutical groups, issuing fake medical bills, and illegally conducting human organ transplantation, the source further added.
A source from Aleppo Health Directorate told North Press about a recently arrested network that was producing medical materials unfit for use and selling them in rural markets as foreign products, such as tetanus vaccines, blood type incompatibility drugs, erythropoietin, and cancer treatment drugs.
The Doctors Syndicate did not comment on any of the aforementioned, and the authenticity of this news has not been confirmed by the health authorities.
