13 people killed in unknown airstrikes in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Thirteen individuals, including an Iranian commander with the rank of “Colonel,” were killed, and more than 20 others were injured on Tuesday in unknown airstrikes, targeting sites in the towns of Abu Kamal and al-Mayadin in Deir ez-Zor countryside, east Syria.

According to informed security sources, “The airstrikes resulted in the killing of 13 individuals and the injury of over 20 others.”

On the same day at dawn, unidentified airstrikes rocked headquarters of Iranian-backed militias in Deir ez-Zor, killing and injuring more than 30 militants and leaders.

One of the prominent casualties is a leader in Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and the military correspondence officer named Behrouz Wahidi, an Iranian national holding the rank of Colonel. He was targeted at the communications point in al-Villat neighborhood in Deir ez-Zor, according to the source.

He further explained that two companions of the Iranian commander were killed, one of whom is named Hassan Jahani, while the identity of the other is unknown.

The rest of the casualties were all Iraqi nationals and were killed in the airstrikes that targeted the village of al-Salihiyah and the town of Abu Kamal, except for one individual named Imad Shahab, who is of Syrian nationality, the source added.

Additionally, the number of wounded individuals has reached more than 20, the most prominent of whom is Hajj Askar, the commander of Brigade 47 of the government forces, who is involved in recruiting and training militants to carry out operations against the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
