Asayish arrest 2 ISIS militants in Syria’s Hasakah
HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – The Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish) announced on Monday the arrest of two militants of the Islamic State group (ISIS) in Hasakah Governorate in northeastern Syria.
The Asayish media center said the two militants were in contact with other ISIS sleeper cells in areas occupied by Turkey in northern Syria.
The arrest was carried out on March 24 in the town of Shaddadi in the south of the city of Hasakah.
When the forces raided the hideout, the two militants opened fire and then clashes erupted between the two parties. As a result, the two militants were arrested, according to the Asayish media center.
Further investigation revealed that the arrestees were in contact with ISIS sleeper cells in the city of Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain) in the north of Hasakah, which has been under the Turkish occupation since 2019.
They were allegedly involved in targeting security headquarters in areas held by the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES).
The Asayish managed to seize weapons, ammunition, and amounts of money during the raid. The two militants have been handed over to the public prosecutor’s office, according to the Asayish.
