Airstrikes kill, injure over 30 militants of IRGC in Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Unidentified airstrikes rocked on Tuesday dawn headquarters of Iranian-backed militias in Deir ez-Zor Governorate in eastern Syria killing and injuring more than 30 militants and leaders.

Security sources told North Press that the airstrikes targeted two headquarters of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in the neighborhoods of al-Villat al-Baladiya, Communication Center, and a security headquarters near the office of the University of the Euphrates in the city of Deir ez-Zor.

Another strike hit the Ayyash warehouses and the al-Tala’e camp in the city.

The airstrikes also targeted al-Haydariya neighborhood, Temmo neighborhood (Iranian-controlled security area), and a headquarters affiliated with the Unit 313 near al-Bal’oum Roundabout in the town of al-Mayadin in the east of Deir ez-Zor.

In Abu Kamal, a town in the east of Deir ez-Zor, the airstrikes targeted a headquarters near al-Heri Crossing (Railway Crossing), a headquarters in the town of al-Suwai’iya, two posts on al-Hajjana Street (Iranian-controlled security area), the security office behind Badr Hospital, a post near al-Ma’ari School, and two posts in al-Salihiyah Abu Kamal.

The airstrikes resulted in the killing of 13 militants and the injury of more than 20 others, including some leaders, according to the sources.

The air defense of the militias at the Imam Ali Base in Abu Kamal desert attempted to intercept the strikes, the sources added.

Government-run media outlets claimed that the U.S. aircrafts carried out strikes on several posts in Deir ez-Zor and its countryside. The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has not commented on the airstrikes yet.
