ISIS kills 5 truffle hunters, injures others in Syria’s Raqqa

RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – Militants of the Islamic State group (ISIS) killed on Thursday five truffle hunters and injured others in an attack in Raqqa Governorate in northern Syria.

A local source in the village of Muqla Kabir to the southeast of the city of Raqqa said an ISIS attack resulted in the killing of five truffle hunters and the injury of three others in the desert of al-Himmah, east of Raqqa, and that the fate of three others remains unknown.

The source added that among the killed was Ahmad al-Qalib, while Majed al-Sulaiman, Eid al-Qalib, and Mahmoud al-Dawish were injured. The fate of Jamal al-Alloush and two other unidentified individuals is still unknown.

In March 2024, more than 40 individuals were killed while haunting truffles in ISIS attacks and landmine explosions near military posts of the Syrian government forces or those of their affiliated militias.
