Government forces find bodies of 2 IRGC militants killed in Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Syrian government forces found on Wednesday morning the bodies of two militants of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in Deir ez-Zor Governorate in eastern Syria.
A source from the government forces in Deir ez-Zor told North Press that a convey of IRGC militants came under attack.
The attack resulted in the killing of two militants of the IRGC and the injury of others. The identity of the attackers has remained unknown, according to the source.
Days earlier, contact was lost with a group of IRGC militants. The IRGC has been involved in the Syrian conflict to support the government forces against the armed opposition factions.
The group was heading from the town al-Salihiyah in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor to Arak gas field in the southeast of Deir ez-Zor.
