SDC official says Syrian opposition scattered

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – An official of the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC) said on Thursday the Syrian opposition suffers from fragmentation, and the Council is working on a broader representation of the opposition under its umbrella.

Ali Rahmoun, deputy co-chair of the SDC, said the SDC has worked on the intra-Syrian dialogue, aiming to unify the Syrian opposition and democratic national actors in order to reach a political solution for Syria.

Rahmoun told North Press the SDC aims to hold a conference for the democratic national actors to represent the Syrian opposition as much as possible.

March 15 marks the 13th anniversary of the beginning of the Syrian war amid the stalling of political solutions. The Syrian crisis has resulted in the killing of over 400,000 people and displacement of millions abroad and within Syria, whereas many of the remaining population live below the poverty line.
