Unidentified gunmen kill 2 Iran-backed militants in Syria’s Palmyra

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Unidentified gunmen attacked on Tuesday a military vehicle of the Iranian-backed Liwa al-Quds militia in the Syrian Desert, resulting in casualties.

A source in the Syrian government forces told North Press unidentified gunmen targeted with machine guns a vehicle carrying militants of the Liwa al-Quds. The militants had completed a military training course and were heading to their post in the city of Palmyra.

The attack resulted in the killing of two militants and the injury of three others. In response, the Liwa al-Quds deployed additional military reinforcements and conducted raids on civilian houses in Palmyra.

All of the militants involved in this incident hailed from Palmyra and were off duty after the completion of their training course, according to the source.

Two days earlier, unidentified gunmen riding a motorcycle in Palmyra, killed a militant of the Liwa al-Quds.
