Iranian clerics meet with mosque preachers in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – A group of Iranian Shiite clerics from Iran held a meeting on Monday with mosque preachers and imams in the Iranian Cultural Center in Deir ez-Zor Governorate, eastern Syria.

The meeting was attended by military leaders and generals from Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

A source inside the meeting hall told North Press that, the Iranian figure, Haj Rasoul, convened the meeting, which included clerics from the Iranian Shiite community as well as officers and generals from the IRGC. The meeting took place at the Iranian Cultural Center in the Vilat neighborhood in Deir ez-Zor.

The meeting lasted for approximately two hours. The clerics expressed their congratulations for the upcoming month of Ramadan, and then proceeded to establish conditions for prayer and religious sermons that should be followed during the month.

Among the conditions set by the clerics were specifying eight rekats for Taraweeh prayer, a voluntary prayer performed after the evening prayer, Isha, every single night during Ramadan, prohibiting the use of loudspeakers during Taraweeh prayer and the Fajr call to prayer, and unifying Friday sermons based on a sermon issued by the Iranian Cultural Center, according to the source.

The meeting also addressed the topic of Shiism and emphasized its importance. The attendees urged young people to join Iranian militias. At the end of the meeting, it was confirmed that another meeting would be held in the coming days.
