ISIS escalates attacks in Syria and Iraq
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – The Islamic State (ISIS) killed several soldiers of the Syrian government forces within the past 48 hours in central Syria. The group also carried out an attack against the Iraqi army, resulting in casualties.
A source in the government forces told North Press that ISIS militants attacked with machine guns and rockets three posts of the government forces near the entrance to the town of al-Sukhnah in the east of Homs, central Syria. The attacks resulted in the killing of three soldiers and the injury of eight others.
Additionally, ISIS militants also targeted late on Friday posts of the Division 17 of the government forces in the village of al-Masrab in the west of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria, resulting in the killing of two soldiers of the government forces, the source added.
The ISIS-run Amaq News Agency reported that ISIS militants detonated two IEDs targeting a patrol of the Iraqi army in al-Salmiya area in the Tarmia district, north of Baghdad.
The IED blasts led to the killing of one soldier of the Iraqi army and the injury of nine others, including an officer, according to the Agency.
