Global Coalition denies attack on base in Syria
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – A source on Friday denied any attacks against American military bases in eastern Syria.
The source told North Press that the military base of the US-led Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS at al-Omar Oil Field in eastern Syria has not been attacked recently.
On Feb. 21, U.S. Department of Defense said attacks by Iranian-backed militias against American troops and bases in Syria and Iraq have ceased since Feb.4.
Early in February, Reuters cited three sources as saying that Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) reduced the deployment of their senior officers in Syria due to the recent intense airstrikes by Israel.
They told Reuters that Iran’s decision to pull out senior officers is driven partly by its aversion to being sucked directly into a conflict bubbling across the Middle East.
