Turkish organization finishes building settlement in Syria’s Afrin

AFRIN, Syria (North Press) – A Turkish organization completed on Wednesday the construction of a new settlement in the northern countryside of Afrin, northwestern Syria. Upon completion, the organization laid the foundation for another settlement in the same area.

North Press correspondent in the area stated that Türkiye Diyanet Foundation, a NGO headquartered in Istanbul, has completed the construction of a new settlement near the village of Kafr Rom in the Sharran district in northern Afrin.

The new settlement consists of 10 multi-story buildings, and it is expected to be handed over to settlers by mid-2024.

The NGO also laid the foundation for the construction of another settlement named ‘the village of al-Madina’ near the completed one. The construction is expected to complete within 300 days and the village is expected to include around 80 houses.

The correspondent further added that this settlement is the fifteenth in Sharran, bringing the total number of settlements in the Afrin region to 40, most of which were built with Palestinian, Qatari, and Kuwaiti funding.
