11 government soldiers killed in Syrian Desert
HOMS, Syria (North Press) – A military patrol of the Syrian government forces found on Monday corpses of a group of its soldiers after went missing in the Syrian Desert a week ago.
A military source of the government forces said that a patrol found 11 bodies of the soldiers who went missing while heading from Base 47 in Palmyra to another headquarter in al-Sukhnah countryside in Homs, central Syria.
On Feb. 8, a group of soldiers of the government forces went missing.
They were killed in gunfire and marks of torture were on their bodies, according to the source.
The area in which the corpses were found is controlled by Iranian-backed militias, the source added.
Earlier, the source said that the Islamic State (ISIS) is likely kidnapped the soldiers. However, the group did not claim responsibility for kidnapping or killing the soldiers.
One of the corpses was identified as Fwad Arabi, an officer who hails from the city of Jableh, north of Latakia, on the Syrian coast, according to the source.
