Turkish strikes on NE Syria put livelihoods at risk – HRW

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Turkish attacks on critical civilian infrastructure in northeast Syria put livelihoods at risk and deprive population from electricity, medical care, and essential services, Human Rights Watch (HRW) reported on Friday.

As the crisis in northeast Syria escalates, action is needed to mitigate the humanitarian impacts on the civilian population, according to the HRW.

The HRW urged Turkey to immediately “stop targeting critical civilian infrastructure, respect international humanitarian law and hold to account those responsible for serious violations.”

The HRW also called on all countries to “address the plight of the region’s populace even if other conflicts are dominating the headlines.”
