CENTCOM forces kill Kata’ib Hezbollah commander in Iraq
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) forces carried out on Feb. 7, a unilateral strike in Iraq in response to the attacks on U.S. service members, killing a Kata’ib Hezbollah commander.
The CENTCOM said in a release that the commander is responsible for planning and participating in attacks on U.S. forces in the region.
On Feb. 2, U.S. forces launched airstrikes on seven facilities of Iranian-backed militias in Syria and Iraq in response to a drone attack on Tower 22 base in northeast Jordan on Jan. 28. The attack resulted in the killing of three U.S. service members and the injury of 40 others.
The strike did not cause any “collateral damage or civilian casualties.”
The U.S. “will not hesitate to hold responsible all those who threaten our forces’ safety,” the release read.
