AANES condemns Iran-backed attack on SDF in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor
RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) condemned on Tuesday the attack of an Iranian-backed militia against the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.
The AANES warned against dragging the region into chaos, which the Islamic State (ISIS) and external parties would benefit from to achieve their interests that align with Turkey’s objectives.
On Monday, the SDF announced that six fighters were killed in a suicide drone attack on al-Omar Field, which houses U.S. and Global Coalition troops, hours after an Iranian-backed militia claimed responsibility for the attack.
The AANES called on actors in Syria to be aware of the risks of escalation and its grounds.
The statement stressed that the attack on a training academy for SDF commando forces in al-Omar Field plans to create chaos and hinder the SDF’s efforts to achieve stability and combat terrorism.
