Turkish authorities transfer 2 detainees from Syria’s Afrin to Turkey

AFRIN, Syria (North Press) – The Turkish authorities transferred on Sunday two detained Syrian women from the Kafr Janneh prison in the east of the city of Afrin, northwestern Syria, to a prison in Turkey, marking the second transfer operation of detainees from Afrin to Turkey during February.

An official from the Turkish-backed Military Police told North Press that the Turkish authorities transferred the 28-year-old Jumana Zakour and the 21-year-old Yamama Safoan, from the Kafr Janneh prison to a prison in Turkey.

They had been arrested for six months on charges of dealing with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), the source added.

The detainees were transported via the Hamam border crossing in the countryside of the town of Jindires, southwestern Afrin, accompanied by two military vehicles in coordination with the Turkish military police.

The source added that this is the second transfer operation of Syrians to Turkey from prisons in the Afrin region during February and the eighth operation since the start of this year.

Furthermore, the source added that the number of detainees transferred to Turkey until now is 10, including three women.
