Fresh Israeli airstrike targets Damascus
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Israeli forces launched on Friday fresh airstrikes on some points in Damascus, Syria’s capital.
Syria’s state-run news agency, SANA, cited a military source of the Syrian government forces as saying that the forces intercepted “an Israeli aggression that targeted some points south of Damascus and downed a number of the hostile missiles.”
The attack was launched from the side of Golan Heights, and that Syria’s “air defense shut down some of the missiles,” the source added.
The airstrikes caused material losses, according to the source who did not mention any casualties.
Israel goes on launching missiles on sites in Syria. The strikes have been intensified since the start of the Israel-Hamas war on Oct. 7. Israel claims that the strikes target weapons warehouses linked to Iranian-backed militias.
Late in January, the Israeli forces launched airstrikes on the town of Sayyida Zainab, south of Damascus, killing six members, including officials, of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and the Lebanese Hezbollah.
