Turkish drone strike kills 4 Asayish members in Syria’s Qamishli

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Four members of the Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria (Asayish) were killed on Friday in a Turkish fresh drone strike on the city of Qamishli in northeastern Syria.

Turkish forces launched on Friday morning a drone strike on a center of the Asayish in Qamishli, the Asayish announced in statement.

The strike targeted a center in the eastern side of the city and resulted in the killing of four members and the injury of another, the Asayish statement read.

The statement noted that the attack came at a time when the Asayish forces are conducting an operation in Hawl Camp.

On Jan. 27, the Asayish and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) with the participation of the U.S.-led Global Coalition launched an anti-ISIS security campaign in Hawl Camp, dubbed Humanity and Security.

During the operation, the Asayish arrested dozens of ISIS affiliates and discovered four hidden mines and two trenches in the Annex, a part of the Hawl Camp which houses foreign ISIS women and children.

On Jan. 24, a Turkish drone targeted a vehicle of the Asayish on the road between the two cities of Qamishli and Hasakah. The attack killed a member of the Asayish and injured others.
