QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The White House said on Wednesday that the U.S. intelligence was certain that the so-called Islamic Resistance in Iraq, an Iranian-affiliated group, was responsible for the attack of Tower 22 U.S. base in Jordan.
White House national security spokesman John Kirby reiterated at the daily White House press briefing that his country will respond, saying, “We’ll respond on our own time, on our own schedule, and we’ll do that.”
On Jan. 28, three U.S. troops were killed and 34 others were injured in a one-way drone attack that hit an American base in northeastern Jordan, near the Syrian border, said the U.S. Central Command in a press release. Hours after the attack, Islamic Resistance in Iraq claimed responsibility for it.
Joe Biden said on Jan. 28 following the attack, “We will carry on their commitment to fight terrorism. And have no doubt – we will hold all those responsible to account at a time and in a manner of our choosing.”
“The first thing you see won’t be the last,” he added.
Kirby remained tight-lipped about the details of the planned U.S. response.
Kirby said that the response “will be a response over time”.
