U.S. to not withdraw from Syria –  U.S. official

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Acting U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Victoria Nuland said on Tuesday that her country is not planning to withdraw its military forces from Syria.

“The United States is not withdrawing from Syria,” Nuland told CNN Turk.

The decision of the withdrawal is not yet taken, according to the official.

On Jan. 28, the Islamic Resistance in Iraq claimed responsibility for the attack on a U.S. base in Jordan near the Syrian border, which resulted in the killing of three American soldiers and the injury of 34 others.

Since the Israel-Hamas war started in October 2023, U.S. bases in Syria and Iraq have been targeted by Iran-backed militias, and almost all of these attacks have been claimed by the Islamic Resistance in Iraq.
