3 U.S. troops killed, 25 injured in drone attack in Jordan – CENTCOM

DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – Three American soldiers have been killed and 25 others have been injured on Sunday in a drone attack on a U.S. base in northeastern Jordan, the Pentagon’s Central Command (CENTCOM) said in a press release.

“On Jan. 28, three U.S. service members were killed and 25 injured from a one-way attack UAS that impacted at a base in northeast Jordan, near the Syria border,” the statement said.

U.S. President Joe Biden accused Iran-backed groups of carrying out the attack. “While we are still gathering the facts of this attack, we know it was carried out by radical Iran-backed militant groups operating in Syria and Iraq.”

The statement added that as part of the Pentagon policy, “the identities of the service members will be withheld until 24 hours after their next of kin have been notified.”

“Updates will be provided as they become available,” CENTCOM concluded.
