Unidentified drone strikes U.S. base in KRI’s Erbil
ERBIL, KRI, Iraq (North Press) – A combat drone, likely launched by Iran-backed militias, targeted on Wednesday a U.S. base near the Erbil International Airport in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI).
This targeting came less than 24 hours after U.S. forces carried out strikes in Iraq against three facilities associated with Iranian-backed militias.
On Tuesday, the U.S. Department of Defense announced that 83 personnel were injured in 151 attacks by Iranian-backed militias on American bases in Syria and Iraq since the start of the war in Gaza in October 2023.
Two Iraqi officials told Reuters that a base housing U.S. forces near Erbil airport was targeted by an armed drone. However, no additional details regarding the incident or the extent of losses resulting from the attack were disclosed.
