Turkish-backed Military Police arrest 5 people in Syria’s Afrin

AFRIN, Syria (North Press) – On Tuesday, the Turkish-backed Military Police arrested five people, including an elderly man, in the town of Rajo north of the city of Afrin, northwestern Syria. They were charged with espionage for the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES).

An official from the Military Police told North Press that they arrested five people in the town of Rajo.

The source added that among the detainees was a 60-year-old man. The arrest was carried out as part of a broader campaign based on instructions from the leadership of the Military Police.

The Military Police handed one of the five detainees, Ziad Fawzi Suleiman, 32, to the Turkish intelligence at one of their military posts near the border village of Hawar Kilis, north of the city of Azaz, northwestern Syria.

The source indicated that they were arrested on charges of espionage for the AANES. He added that the arrest campaign will likely continue for days due to the arrival of new lists containing the names of individuals wanted by the Turkish intelligence.
