AANES official holds US, Russia responsible for Turkish attacks in NE Syria

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Badran Chiya Kurd, Deputy of Co-chair of the Foreign Relations Department of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES), held on Sunday the U.S. and the Russian Federation directly responsible for the Turkish attacks in the region.

Turkey continues to target the border strip and frontlines from the city of Derik (al-Malikiyah), far northeastern Syria, to Manbij, northern Syria, destroying infrastructure, service facilities, and residents’ properties, and resulting in civilian and military casualties.

“The Turkish attacks are considered as a part of the genocidal war pursued by the Turkish government against the components of northeastern Syria, and a continuous attempt to undermine the social cohesion among the region’s components and to hinder the political process led by the AANES,” Chiya Kurd said on X platform.

“These attacks constitute a fully organized war crime, requiring a legal and judicial pursuit of the Turkish regime officials,” Chiya Kurd added.

He emphasized the need for both the U.S. and Russia to pressure the Turkish side to halt the aggression and prevent its repetition. Also, he called for their forces to respond to hostile attacks in areas controlled by Turkey and the Turkish-backed armed opposition factions, aka the Syrian National Army (SNA).

He urged the U.S. and Russia to submit this issue to the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) and make a decision against the violating party of UN Resolution 2254.
