Turkish airstrikes target service facilities in Syria’s Derik

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Turkish airstrikes targeted on Saturday evening several service facilities in the countryside of the city of Derik (al-Malikiyah), in far-northeastern Syria.

The airstrikes come after an emergency security meeting held by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Istanbul a few hours ago which was attended by top Turkish officials. In the meeting, Turkey vowed to continue the war in Syria and Iraq against the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).

North Press correspondent in the area reported five Turkish strikes targeted the vicinity of the villages of Gir Kendal, and Taql Baql, both located in east of the city of Qamishli, northeastern Syria. Other strikes in the same region targeted the oil facility southwest of the town of Tirbe Spiyeh (al-Qahtaniya), the villages of Gerdahol, and Gir Sheran, and the agricultural bank in the area.

The correspondent was unable to gather information regarding the extent of the material damage or casualties.
