Iranian missiles shake civilians’ houses in Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Iranian-backed militias fired on Friday missiles from the Syrian government held-areas in the western bank of the Euphrates River in Deir ez-Zor Governorate in eastern Syria causing material damage to the properties of the civilians.

Local sources told North Press that three missiles were fired by Iranian-backed militias and fell on the civilians’ houses in the town of al-Ozba in the north of the city of Deir ez-Zor.

The missiles exploded and caused significant material damage to the houses, the sources said.

Iran, through its proxy militias, has intensified its military escalation in eastern Syria where U.S. bases are deployed. The escalation has caused damage to the civilians’ properties and destabilized the region.

Ten days after the start of the Israel-Hamas conflict in Gaza, on Oct. 7, 2023, a new coalition of Iranian-backed militias has emerged calling itself the Islamic Resistance in Iraq. The group has claimed most of the attacks on U.S. bases in Syria and Iraq.

On Thursday, the Islamic Resistance in Iraq claimed the responsibility for a drone attack on a U.S. base in the southern countryside of Hasakah in northeastern Syria.  And a day before, the U.S. base in Conoco gas plant in the Syrian Desert was subjected to two drone attacks in less than two hours by the Islamic Resistance in Iraq.

In the same context, Pentagon Press Secretary, Pat Ryder, said in a press briefing on Friday that the number of attacks on the U.S. bases in Syria and Iraq mounted to130; 77 of which were in Syria and 53 in Iraq.
