SDF’s YAT conducts 37 anti-ISIS operations in NE Syria in 2023

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Anti-Terrorism Units (YAT), affiliated with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), announced on Saturday that they conducted 37 military operations against the Islamic State group (ISIS) in Northeast Syria in 2023.

In their congratulatory statement for the New Year, the YAT reviewed their successful operations against ISIS throughout 2023. The statement highlighted the support and assistance provided by the US-led Global Coalition forces and the Counter-Terrorism Group (CTG).

The YAT expressed warm congratulations on the New Year to the people of Syria, with a special mention to those in the northeast, “hoping for a new year of peace and victory over oppression.”

The YAT indicated that their 37 military operations spanned various areas of Northeast Syria, including 18 in Deir ez-Zor, 10 in Raqqa, four in Dashisha, three in Markadah, one in Shaddadi, and one in Hawl.

“We are proud of our achievements in the face of challenges and combating terrorism proving that our might lies in our unity and solidarity,” the statement read.

According to the statement, a total of 56 individuals involved in terrorism were arrested, including 39 ISIS militants, nine ISIS emirs, three smugglers of ISIS militants, two smugglers of ISIS weapons, two financial officials, and one security official.

The statement also reported that 13 individuals were killed and three others were wounded during these operations.

The YAT extended its congratulations to the families of the martyrs and expressed gratitude to those who were wounded during their military operations. It reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the region and achieving stability and security.

“We confidently look forward to a future that holds more victories and progress,” the statement concluded.
