Israel launches fresh airstrike on Syria
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Israel carried out on Thursday evening a fresh airstrike on some sites in southern Syria, while the Syrian Ministry of Defense announced downing a number of Israeli missiles.
The ministry said the missiles were launched from the direction of Golan Heights and targeted the southern region.
Syria’s state-run news agency of SANA cited a military source as saying “Around 11:05 p.m. Thursday, the Israeli enemy carried out an air attack from the direction of the occupied Syrian Golan, targeting some points in the southern region.”
Syrian government forces downed a number of missiles, according to the source, adding that the “losses were limited to materials.”
Israel has not commented on the incident yet.
Israel goes on launching missiles on sites in Syria that are allegedly used by Iran and its affiliated militias especially the Damascus International Airport. The strikes have been intensified since the start of the Israel-Hamas war on Oct. 7. Israel claims that the strikes target weapons warehouses linked to Iranian-backed militias.
