Israeli airstrike in Damascus kills top IRGC commander
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – A prominent leader in Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) was killed on Monday as a result of an Israeli airstrike in south of the Syrian capital Damascus.
Israel occasionally targets sites belonging to the IRGC and the Lebanese Hezbollah in Syria, but these attacks have increased since the outbreak of the Israel-Hamas war.
According to Tasnim, a semi-official Iranian news agency, Seyyed Razi Mousavi, a top commander in the IRGC and one of the IRGC’s senior advisors in Syria, was killed by an Israeli airstrike on the outskirts of Damascus.
The agency added that the Israeli strike targeted Mousavi in the town of Sayyida Zainab, south of Damascus.
In a statement, the IRGC vowed that Israel will pay the price for assassinating the military advisor in Syria.
