Jordan foils drug smuggling attempt on border with Syria
DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – The Jordanian Army announced on Sunday foiling an attempt of smuggling large quantities of drugs coming from Syria.
A military source in the command of the Jordanian Army told the Al-Mamlaka TV that border forces, in coordination with anti-drug forces and military security apparatuses, detected a group of smugglers trying to cross the border illegally from Syria into Jordan.
The swat patrols engaged with the smugglers, injuring several of them, whereas others fled back to Syrian territories.
The forces seized 537,000 captagon pills and 188 palm-sized sheets of hashish, in addition to amounts of ammunition, according to the source.
The source stressed that Jordan’s armed forces will continue to respond with resolve to any threats on the border that aim to undermine Jordan’s security and stability.
