Turkish airstrikes target oil, infrastructure facilities in NE Syria

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – On Saturday, Turkish warplanes carried out several airstrikes targeting infrastructure and oil facilities in the countryside of the cities of Qamishli and Derik, northeastern Syria.

North Press correspondent reported that the Turkish warplanes targeted the Agricultural Bank, Sa’eeda oil field, and Oda oil field, near the town of Tirbe Spiyeh (al-Qahtaniya) in the countryside of Qamishli.

They also conducted over 10 airstrikes in the countryside of Derik, far-northeastern Syria, the correspondent added.

They noted that the airstrikes targeted Sabi’a (seventh) facility for generating electricity in Derik.

Earlier on Saturday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan threatened to retaliate for the killing of 12 Turkish soldiers in northern Iraq, which Turkey attributed to the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK). Erdogan vowed to respond by targeting northern Syria and Iraq.
