IRGC evacuates hospital in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) evacuated on Friday a hospital in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria, after leaked information revealed Iranian leaders received treatment there.
A worker in the al-Shifa Hospital in the town of al-Asharah in the east of Deir ez-Zor, told North Press that the hospital’s staff was reassigned to branches in the town of al-Mayadin and the city of Deir ez-Zor. They were notified that the hospital would conduct maintenance work.
The hospital provides services to civilians in al-Asharah to cover for its military activities, according to the source, who added that the closure may be for the installment of cameras and tightening security measures.
The source pointed out that some members of the hospital staff were investigated due to leaked information revealing that a senior commander in the IRGC was receiving treatment there.
On Dec. 20, Hussein Kardoush, a local leader in the IRGC, survived an assassination attempt that resulted in the injury of his Iraqi driver.
The Syrian government forces are put on high alert state in areas west of the Euphrates River, conducting patrols due to attacks against IRGC leaders.
