Tension escalated in Syria’s Azaz due to acts of Turkish-backed SNA

ALEPPO, Syria (North Press) – Al-Jabha al-Shamiya (Levant Front), affiliated with the Turkish-backed armed opposition factions, aka the Syrian National Army (SNA), assaulted on Friday an old woman, escalating tension in the city of Azaz, north of Aleppo, northwest Syria.

A source from the Military Police, affiliated with the SNA, told North Press that the woman was assaulted after arresting her under-age child along with five young men while harvesting olives from an olive grove that belongs to the SNA factions.

The militants of the Levant Front violently beat the 58-year-old woman while arresting her child. As a result, the woman’s relatives were upset and called for holding the faction accountable for the assault, according to the source.

The incident resulted in a state of tension, amid attempts from tribal figures to ease the situation, the source added.

The city of Azaz and its countryside have been under the occupation of the Turkish forces and their affiliated SNA factions since July 2012.

Areas held by the Turkish forces and the SNA factions witness security chaos, including arrests, kidnappings, thefts, fighting, and murders in light of the factions’ disability to maintain security.
