QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – German authorities charged on Friday two Syrian men with war crimes they are accused of having committed about 10 years ago in Syria as part of the Islamic State (ISIS).
The Federal Prosecutors Office said in a statement on its website that the two men Muhammad A. and Asmael K., who joined ISIS around 2013, were charged with taking hostages, some of them resulted in death.
Asmael K. is believed to have guarded 12 prisoners and shot at least one of them dead.
While Muhammad A. was accused of founding an armed group in Damascus that is reported to have planted bombs at state offices.
He was also charged with joining ISIS and commanding some 200 ISIS militants.
The two men are currently in German custody. A court in the western city of Dusseldorf will decide whether they will face trial.
