SDC elects new co-chairs in 4th annual conference

RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Democratic Council (SDC) elected on Wednesday evening Mahmoud al-Meslet and Layla Qahraman as the new co-chairs during its fourth annual conference in the city of Raqqa, north Syria.

Al-Meslet, who holds both American and Syrian citizenship, has been a lecturer at Oberlin College in the U.S. for the past 12 years.

Earlier today, the SDC held its fourth conference in Raqqa with the participation of prominent Syrian political figures from inside and outside the country.

As part of its new internal system, the SDC abolished the Executive Committee from its structure.

The new internal system consists of eight articles defining the council, its principles, decision-making mechanism, membership, and organizational structure.
