Turkish border guards kill young man in Syria’s Sere Kaniye

SERE KANIYE, Syria (North Press) – On Tuesday, a Syrian was shot and killed by Turkish border guards while attempting to cross the Syrian-Turkish border near the city of Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain), northeastern Syria.

Recently, Turkish border guards have increased their attacks on Syrians who are trying to reach Turkey. They consider Turkey a gateway to Europe in search of a better life.

Eyewitnesses told North Press that the border guards opened fire on 28-year-old Mu’ayed Jassem al-Baraghish, along with several others who were with him while attempting to cross the border.

They added that al-Baraghish was killed immediately, noting that the victim hails from the town of Marrat in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.
