Four Iran-backed militants killed in ISIS attack in Syria’s Homs

ALEPPO, Syria (North Press) – Four militants of an Iran-backed militia were killed, and three others were injured on Sunday afternoon in an attack by cells of the Islamic State (ISIS) in the al-Sukhnah Desert, in the eastern countryside of Homs Governorate, central Syria.

A source from the Syrian government forces stated that an attack by ISIS on positions of the pro-Iran Liwa al-Quds militia near the village of al-Tayba, in the northern part of al-Sukhnah, resulted in the killing of four militants.

The source added that the attack also resulted in the injury of three other members and the destruction of a four-wheel drive vehicle mounted with a machine gun.

Earlier on Sunday, a member of Liwa al-Quds was killed, and another was injured in an armed attack targeting a military post of the militia at the entrance of al-Sukhnah Desert.

On Saturday, unidentified attackers targeted a military vehicle of Liwa al-Quds with a rocket at the entrance of the city of Homs, causing only material damage.

The government source noted that the latest attack on military posts of Liwa al-Quds is the third within 24 hours, adding that government helicopters arrived to provide support and sweep the scene and surrounding areas.
