Government kill, injure 736 individuals in 2023 so far
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – The Monitoring and Documentation Department of North Press has recorded the killing and injury of 736 individuals by the Syrian government since the beginning of 2023.
The majority of them were killed and injured due to government bombardment in opposition-held areas in Idlib and Aleppo governorates, northwestern Syria.
Among the victims, 219 were killed, including 52 children and 26 women, and 517 were injured, including 127 children and 77 women.
The highest toll was recorded in Idlib with 411 casualties, including 77 women and 107 children, followed by Aleppo with 140, including 47 children and 42 women. Daraa Governorate, southern Syria, reported 47 casualties, including a woman and a child.
In Deir ez-Zor Governorate, eastern Syria, the number of casualties amounted to 24, including six women and five children, while those recorded in Damascus and its countryside totaled 21.
Hama Governorate, west central Syria, recorded 21 casualties, including five women and 10 children, while in Hasakah Governorate, northeastern Syria, the number amounted to 24, including six women and five children. Suwayda Governorate, southern Syria, recorded four casualties, and Latakia Governorate, western Syria, recorded two. Lastly, Homs Governorate, central Syria, had 12 casualties.
