Turkish border guards kill young man, injure another in northern Raqqa
RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – A young man was killed and another was injured on Tuesday evening by Turkish border guards while attempting to cross the Syrian-Turkish border from Tel Abyad in northern Raqqa, northern Syria.
A local source told North Press that the border guards opened fire on a group of Syrians while they were attempting to cross the Syrian-Turkish border near the village of Yabisa, west of the city of Tel Abyad.
The source added that the shooting resulted in the killing of 32-year-old Youssef al-Khalaf from the town of Muhassan in eastern Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria, and the injury of another young man who was subsequently taken to the Tel Abyad National Hospital.
On Dec. 7, two people were killed and another was injured in a similar incident while they were attempting to cross the border from Afrin, northwestern Syria.
