Russian military convoy attacked with IED in Syria’s Daraa

DARAA, Syria (North Press) – Unknown assailants targeted on Tuesday a military convoy of Russian forces with an IED in the northern countryside of Daraa, southern Syria.

Russian forces have several bases in Daraa, notably in the city of Izraa in northern Daraa, and the ‘White Rose’ Hotel in the city center of Daraa.

A local source told North Press that an IED exploded with a  Russian military convoy while it was passing on a bridge in the town of Mahajjah in northern Daraa, resulting in damage to a number of military vehicles.

The source added that it was not possible to determine if there were any human casualties due to the heavy presence of Russian forces and Syrian government forces at the scene.

The source noted that the deployed forces in the area halted traffic for half an hour before reopening the road. They  conducted thorough checks and searches on the vehicles.
